forget "junk" DNA with ENCODE papers

30 papers just came out on 3 different journals

“Thanks to the identification of these functional elements, 80% of the human genome now has at least one biochemical function associated with it”

This just came out: 30 papers from the ENCODE (Encyclopedia of DNA Elements) project are now available. One of the goals of the project was to identify regions related with transcription regulation, for instance.

The papers are on Nature, Genome Research and Genome Biology. There is a kind of portal organized by Nature that presents all this data. There is even an iPad app! By the way, all papers are open access.

Can’t wait to take a look at some of them!
